FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • We strongly recommend reading all of these pages and resources - they should contain the answers to all your questions. If you have a question that isn't covered in our resources, we recommend posting it on the official $2000 Challenge Forum.

  • The $2000 Challenge is much more than just an event for competitors in Autocross, Drags and the Concours!

Unofficial entertainment also tends to spring up around the event weekend. We recommend taking a stroll around the host hotel parking lot the Friday night before the event - you may stumble upon some interesting work happening, perhaps even a parking lot build. And, of course, you'll get to hang out with your fellow $2000 Challenge-rs and GRM staff.

  • Most attendees choose to either stay at our official host hotel (the Best Western Gateway Grand) or camp on-site at Gainesville Raceway.

Click here for more information about those options.

  • FRIDAY ARRIVALS:

If you're staying at the host hotel, check in to your hotel room first. If you're towing a trailer and/or planning on working on your car in the hotel parking lot, please park in the lot behind the building.

If you're camping at Gainesville Raceway, you can enter the track starting at 12:00pm on Friday. Pull into the main gate slowly with your hazard lights on, and a staff member will come to check you in. Please be patient, as we will be focused on setting up the track for Saturday and Sunday.

From 5pm to 8pm Friday night, GRM staff will have a table set up in the lobby of the host hotel for competitor check-in. Please bring everyone on your team (and any spectators who are registered with you) at once to streamline the process.

Everyone who plans on entering the track will need to sign the event waiver.

At check in, you will receive:

    • Your wristbands to enter the track

    • Your required decals and windshield banner

    • Your entrant bag, full of gifts from us and our sponsors

    • Additional decals representing which events you are competing in (these go on the driver's side of your windshield)

    • Your T-shirt, if you purchased one with your registration

    SATURDAY ARRIVALS:

Check-in and onsite registration will be available at Gainesville Raceway starting at 7:00am on Saturday when the track gates open.

Please drive slowly and pay attention to signage, cones, and staff directions as you enter the track. There will be different lanes set up for check-in/registration and people who already have their wristbands. You can also view the event map here for help navigating.

If you don't have a wristband when you get to the track on Saturday, you need to go to the registration tent to get one.

The registration tent will close at 6:00pm on Saturday.

  • For technical help, advice from past competitors, or feedback about how your build is looking, post on the official $2000 Challenge forum. You can also get a feel for what everyone else is working on while you're there.
